Cape Town and Surrounding Wine Country Days 1 & 2

Upon arrival in Cape Town on November 18th, we will be met by our Extraordinary Journeys representative and transferred to St. James Manor, our oasis while exploring South Africa's most beautiful city. Built 100 years ago, St James Manor has five large suites that are individually decorated to reflect the opulent times of a bygone era.We’ll have the remainder of the day at our leisure to explore the city or ascend Table Mountain. On November 19th, we embark on a private full-day Cape Highlights tour to see Cape Point and do tastings in the iconic Winelands.

Rovos Rail from Pretoria to Durban Days 4-5

We will embark on a luxurious train ride from Fri, Nov 21 to Sat, Nov. 22nd. After breakfast, we will depart for Pretoria Station to board the Rovos Rail for an opulent train journey to Durban. On our two night journey, we will enjoy a game drive in the Nambiti Private Game Reserve and visits to local battlefields and Zulu ceramics shop while taking in one of South Africa's most scenic stretches.

On Monday, Nov 24 we will drive out of Durban to KwaZulu Natal Game Reserves begin our safari in the Phinda Private Game Reserve where a stay at Phinda Forest Lodge will treat us to luxury accommodation in a rare sand forest teeming with game. These wonderful parks are renowned for their dramatic hilly countryside, diversity of flora and fauna, high standards of conservation and their invaluable contribution in saving the white rhino from extinction.  The Beyond Phinda Forest Lodge is set deep in the heart of a rare and beautiful dry sand forest; it fuses architectural design and conservation. The creation of this award-winning safari lodge was an exemplary exercise in building eco-sensitive structures with a light footprint (not one tree was felled during construction). Inventively designed in Zulu Zen style, each handcrafted, glass-encased suite is a combination of glass, wood and minimalist design incorporating high-gloss wooden floors, richly tactile fabrics and crimson Zulu artefacts. Set in rare sand forest, the glass walls of Phinda Forest Lodge offer a sweeping view of one of the most unique ecosystems on the planet. We will stay in one of the 16 private stilted suites which features luxurious ensuite bathrooms with slate hand basins, and viewing decks where we can awake to the sight of graceful nyala and duiker outside the glass walls. We will even have a chance to unwind in the lodge’s sparkling rim flow swimming pool, or relax in the Lodge sitting areas with expansive viewing decks affording panoramic views of the game-filled plains.

After your morning game drive on November 27, we will transfer to our accommodation on the wide open plains at the luxurious Phinda Vlei Camp. These wonderful parks are renowned for their dramatic hilly countryside, diversity of flora and fauna, high standards of conservation and their invaluable contribution in saving the white rhino from extinction. The property we will stay at, Phinda Vlei, lives up to its high standards. Set on the edge of the forest and overlooking an open meadow, this property will allow us the chance to have an up close and personal experience with the animals. Each suite is carefully positioned for a prime view of the landscape and animals- we can even get a glimpse of them from your shower or bathtub. This is an all-inclusive safari.
